No Other Land (2024)

Directed by - Rachel Szor, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham & Basel Adra

"No Other Land" is a 2024 documentary co-directed by Palestinian activist Basel Adra, Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, and Israeli cinematographer Rachel Szor. The film chronicles the systematic destruction of Palestinian villages in the Masafer Yatta region of the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces and settlers have sought to displace residents under the pretext of establishing military training zones. Through intimate footage, much of it captured by Adra since his youth, the documentary provides a raw portrayal of the community's resilience amid ongoing adversity.

Premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024, "No Other Land" received the Panorama Audience Award for Best Documentary and the Berlinale Documentary Film Award. In March 2025, it won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. However, the film's acclaim has been marred by controversy; shortly after the Oscars, Ballal was attacked by Israeli settlers and briefly detained by Israeli forces, sparking international calls for transparency and support. Despite its critical success, the documentary faces distribution challenges in the U.S., though it continues to be screened in theaters worldwide.
